CubeWerx Receives Prestigious Kenneth G. Gardels Award From OpenGIS® Consortium
CubeWerx recognized for its contribution towards the development and adoption of interoperable specifications for a 'geo-enabled' Web
Gatineau, June 16th, 2003 CubeWerx, a world leader in the development and commercialization of interoperable technologies for the storage, management and distribution of geospatial data on the Internet, announced today that three of its directors had been recognized by the OpenGIS® Consortium for their contributions.
Edric Keighan, President and CEO, William Lalonde, Director of Product Development, and Peter Vretanos, Senior Database Developer, were awarded the Kenneth G. Gardels Award at a special reception, held on June 11, 2003, in Dulles, Virginia. The Gardels Award, a gold medallion, is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advance the OpenGIS® Consortium’s vision of geographic information fully integrated into the world’s information.
OGC is an international industry consortium of more than 250 companies, government agencies and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available interface specifications. OpenGIS® specifications support interoperable solutions that “geo-enable” the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.
Since joining OGC in 1999, CubeWerx has demonstrated an unwavering commitment towards the development of Open Web Services specifications to free up the exchange of geospatial information on the Internet. CubeWerx has taken on the editorship of several key OGC specifications: the Web Map Server, the Web Feature Server, the Style Layer Descriptor and the Filter Specifications.
