CubeWerx Announces CubeWerx Australia Pty Ltd.

Gatineau, Québec, July 28, 2005 ; 8:00 AM – CubeWerx, a leading provider of spatial data warehousing and OGC compliant web services software products, today announced that it has opened its Australian subsidiary called CubeWerx Australia Pty Ltd.

The Australian market place is embarking on the next stage of the establishment of robust Australian Spatial Data Infrastructures which will see the emergence of key Government and private sector commercial SDI nodes. These developments are a result of the maturation of standards plus the emergence of Standards-based Commercial Off The Shelf (SCOTS) products tailored to this market. Web users from anywhere will soon be able to discover and access web services published by Australian Governments and other public or private organizations in a truly interoperable way.

After a recent visit to Australia Edric Keighan, CEO and President of CubeWerx, decided that the time and conditions were appropriate to invest in an Australian subsidiary to service this market. “Australia has always been a new adopter of technology just like Canada, we feel that the parallel development of SDI’s in both countries is an opportunity for CubeWerx to consolidate itself as a global leader in the development of this [SDI] technology.” said Keighan. “We are delighted to have the Managing Director of MapWerks, the Australian CubeWerx distributor, join our team as the General Manager of the Australian subsidiary.”

The Australian subsidiary will engage in recruiting Value Added Implementation partners to provide additional local skills as well as market and sell CubeWerx SCOTS products directly or indirectly into the Australian market. “We have had a lot of interest in CubeWerx’ new Web Registry Server and Identity Management Server products in Australia.” said Brad Spencer. “CubeWerx prides itself on producing high quality OGC compliant products and is considered one of a few companies worldwide that are dedicated to a truly interoperable geospatial world. With the establishment of a subsidiary CubeWerx recognizes that the Australian market place is strategically important in the establishment of a Global SDI.”

CubeWerx’ move into Australia is also partly attributed to the decision of the National Oceans Office to use the CubeWerx Web Registry Server for its Marine Catalogue which will become a world leading geospatial portal solution integrating data and services from 9 or more custodian agencies. “We are very excited about this project and will be working to enhance our products in line with their requirements.” said Keighan. This is a perfect example of how Australian projects are up there as world’s best practices in this regard.”
