GeoLeaders Selected by FGDC for NSDI CAP Grant Gatineau, Québec, Jan 12, 2005 -- GeoLaders, CubeWerx Distribution Partner in the United States, a leading provider of spatial data warehousing and OGC compliant web services software products, today announced that it received a grant from the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Cooperative Agreement Program (CAP) to establish Framework Data Services through an implementation of the CubeWerx CubeSERV WFS. The NSDI is a coordinated national approach to geospatial data creation, maintenance, and use. It is a seamless geospatial data framework for the Nation, which is available to Federal, State, and Local governments, the private and non-profit sectors, and academia. The data maintained in the NSDI framework can be used to ensure government leaders the ability to make proactive, well-planned decisions. “We are excited to have been selected to participate in this NSDI Program, which will further advance the application of Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) specifications in addressing the issues of building out the NSDI.” said Edric Keighan, President, CubeWerx. “It is the broad adoption and implementation of standards-based solutions from multiple vendors that will facilitate the level of interoperability necessary for efficient collaboration and managed interaction between Federal, State, and Local Government entities; and important private sector enterprises such as utilities and engineering companies.” The project will involve the collaboration of GeoLeaders’ partners CubeWerx, Accelera Solutions, and the Carbon Project; as well as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The Project will focus on the implementation of a CubeWerx CubeSERV Web Feature Server (WFS) using a Geography Markup Language profile that is coordinated with the current efforts of the OGC and the USGS to define GML profiles for the Framework Data Themes of The National Map, which includes the base data, such as elevation, hydrography, boundaries, transportation, structures, geographic names, and land cover. Upon delivery, a demonstration of the implementation will illustrate multi-vendor interoperability using ArcGIS desktop clients and interaction with geospatial web services. The NSDI Cooperative Agreements Program was established by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) to help form partnerships to implement the NSDI. The NSDI includes the technology, policies, criteria, standards and people necessary to promote geospatial data sharing throughout all levels of government, the private and non-profit sectors, and academia. As a new approach, this year’s CAP is jointly sponsored by the FGDC, Geospatial One-Stop and The National Map, three National geospatial programs under Federal leadership that share the common goal of building the NSDI. ABOUT CUBEWERX INC. About GeoLeaders, LLC GeoLeaders was founded on the principle that today geospatial solutions built on open standards are not only viable, but offer a better long-term return on investment and meet increasing requirements for interoperability more appropriately than proprietary, single vendor solutions. Through its global Partner Network, GeoLeaders is uniting providers of OGC compliant technology products, with professional services companies to more effectively deliver on customer requirements with standards based technology, and to reinforce the momentum built by the OGC and its members. In helping address the increasing need for interoperability and multi-vendor support, all software solutions distributed through GeoLeaders will meet guidelines established in the United States Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) geospatial interoperability reference model, the OGC, and other standards for interoperable geospatial systems.
